Answering Trump's Facebook Questions

In an attempt to be a publicly aware citizen, I have been following the news surrounding the upcoming presidential election very closely. Although I am backing a specific candidate, I respect everyone who vote, regardless of who they vote for. Well, unless they vote for Donald Trump.

Although Trump loves to make assertions without any evidence, he does tend to ask the occasional question. Regardless of the fact that most of the questions are rhetorical, I am going to answer them anyway. Any information is good information for Trump at this point. 
All of the questions I am answering today can be found on Donald Trump's Facebook profile. 
     Let's begin. 

In regards to article entitled “Two-Month Border Surge Brings Nearly 11,000 New Illegal Alien Minors to U.S.,” (Read it here) Trump asks on December 13th "Will our government finally acknowledge that we need a WALL? We can’t solve our country’s problems by being politically correct!"

Well, Mr. Trump, "the massive surge of children fleeing their Central American homes and mostly crossing the Mexican border into Texas" can be attributed to extreme violence in countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. While unfortunate that these children are entering the country illegally, the fact is that crossing the border and starting a life in a foreign nation with no family or resources is safer than staying home. And, frankly, I'm not sure what political correctness has to do with the matter. 

While referencing his growing support on December 10th, Trump posts "For the past 5 months - media poll experts & establishment politicians have predicted that my campaign will fail. As the polls indicate - we are growing, and will continue to do so - thanks to your support! What else do you think they are capable of under estimating? Terrorism? Threats of cyber-attacks? I DO NOT WANT TO FIND OUT! When I am elected #‎POTUS - I will see to it that we DO NOT find out!"

Apparently media poll experts and establishment politicians are capable of underestimating the general stupidity of a large portion of the voting population. How's that for not coating our problems in political correctness, Mr. Trump? 

Again, on December 10th, in reference to his lead in the polls, Trump posts "Thank you for all of your support. I am running for POTUS because I love this country - and I do not like the direction in which it is going. We need to secure America now! What are we waiting for? Time to #MakeAmericaGreatAgain!"

Personally, I'm waiting for a better presidential candidate to start leading in the polls. Also, personally, I think America is still great. 

Mr. Trump, notice how I started the previous sentences with "personally," signifying that what I wrote was my opinion, and not necessarily fact. You should try that. 

In a gesture-filled video on December 1st, captioned "What is Obama thinking?" Trump states "While the world is in turmoil and falling apart in so many different ways especially with ISIS, our president is worried abut global warming. What a ridiculous situation!”

I am going to guess that President Obama is thinking that if the world becomes uninhabitable, we will all die anyway. In the face of Mother Nature, terrorists and non-terrorists fall to the same fate. 

In yet another angry video posted on November 17th, Trump asks "Refugees are pouring into our great nation from Syria. We don’t even know who they are. They could be ISIS, they could be anybody. What’s our president doing? Is he insane?"

Our president is facing a global political issue and trying to help the greatest amount of people in the best way he knows. As Obama said himself "American leadership is us caring about people who have been forgotten or who have been discriminated against or who've been tortured or who've been subject to unspeakable violence or who've been separated from families at very young ages. That's when we're the shining light on the hill." I don't believe that upholding the ideas that this great nation was founded on makes our president insane. Personally.

“What's your favorite…” Q&A - Part 3

Now for the last installment of the "What's your favorite..." portion of the Q&A! Get psyched, folks. 

7. What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?

Time of day: Nap time.

Day of the week: Friday, but only if I have something to look forward to on the weekend. If not, Thursday (so I can look forward to Friday).

Month of the year: October. 

8. What is your least favorite mode of transportation?

I am a huge advocate for public transportation, but I strongly dislike buses. I just don't enjoy being jolted around a glorified tin can with people I don't know, some of which who smell. Major props to anyone to takes the bus every day. You are the true hero. 

9. What is your favorite body part?

My nose. Sometimes I can see it, and sometimes I can't. How cool is that? Plus, my nose ring reflects light, which keeps me entertained in dull times.

10. What sound do you love?

I absolutely love the sound of rain at night, especially during thunderstorms. Storms give me an extra reason to wrap myself up tightly in my blankets, and they are fantastic to watch if I ever have trouble sleeping.

Aaaand... We're back! Welcome to Part 2 of the 50 Questions to Get to Know Someone. 

3. What is one of your favorite quotes?

My favorite quote would have to be from one of my favorite books, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Sometimes people need to be reminded to step back and take a few deep breaths. What better way to remind them than to put it on the cover of the ultimate guidebook?

4. What is your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?

Because I'm not sure whether this is asking for one activity or two, I'll play it safe and answer for both.

Indoor: This would have to be a tie between reading and marathoning TV shows. There's no better way to relax than to let your mind shut down and disappear into another world.

Outdoor: Since I started college, I have developed a love for bonfires. Sitting and laughing with close friends while watching the fire dance in front of you is almost magical. Throw some music into the mix and you've got the ultimate party. 

5. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

Dishes. Hands down.

6. What is your favorite form of exercise?

I am a very lazy person, and I detest exercising. With that being said, I love karate. I have been training, periodically, for over 11 years, and I don't plan to stop any time soon. Karate provides a fully body workout while improving balance and focus. Japan International Karate Do Academy has been a second home for me. Somehow, even after the sweat and aching muscles, karate doesn't seem like exercise to me.

Fun fact: It is very difficult to pick up a new habit. This is my attempt to blog: take two. I'll be successful this time, I'm sure (sarcasm).

I am currently enrolled at Auburn University as a freshman. As part of the Honors College, I am taking a seminar class called the Muslim-Christian Dialogue. The class consists of around ten highly intellectual students that enjoy discussing and debating aspects of the Muslim world and Muslim-Christian relations.

As part of our grade, we were asked to prepare a short presentation about a topic we found of interest. My friend, Parker, and I wanted to evaluate the controversy surrounding American Sniper,  directed by Clint Eastwood. We created a list of questions, then set about interviewing both friends and strangers that we found around campus. We were fascinated by the multitude of opinions found on the subject.

“What's your favorite…” Q&A - Part 1

While deliberating as to what to use this blog for, I came across these 50 Questions to Get to Know Someone. For me, personally, this blog is a way to see my thoughts in order to better understand the way my mind works. As an aspiring writer and proud owner of an anxiety disorder, what better way to learn about myself than to answer creative questions posted on a humor website?

I suppose I'll just start from the top of the list and finish it...when I finish it.

1.  What was your favorite food when you were a child?

Sushi has been my favorite food for as long as I can remember. I lived in Hawaii for a short time when I was young, and, naturally, acquired a taste for raw fish. My dad likes to tell people (proudly) about a temper tantrum I threw in an Alabama supermarket when he wouldn't buy me raw fish.

Today, when asked which one food I would most like to be served for every meal of the rest of my life, my answer remains the same--sushi. Think about it. Sometimes you could eat only the rice, and other times only the fish. The combinations of sushi ingredients are endless. Well, maybe not endless, but sushi would be incredibly more palatable over a long period of time than any other foods.

Not a fan of healthy food? Try fried sushi! It's delicious, trust me.

2.  What's the #1 most played song on your iPod?

We Didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel

...also known as my hiccup song. When I get the hiccups, I sing the song as fast as I can without breathing in order to get rid of them. Does it work? No clue. Is it fun? Absolutely.

Fun fact: I know all the words to the song. Beat that.
